Anna Letitia (Bemis) Rehmel, age 98 of Mishawaka, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 surrounded by her family. Anna was born December 5, 1917 in Coalmont, Indiana to Floyd Emery and Rachel Rebecca (Burger) Bemis. On November 30, 1935, she married Raymond F. Rehmel. He preceded her in death, passing away June 15, 1990.
Surviving are her children Patricia Rehmel, Bob Rehmel & Roy “Bud” Rehmel, all of Mishawaka, Betty (Keith) McCartney of Osceola, and LaDonna (Richard) Gay of Cassopolis, Michigan. Also surviving is her sister Rachel E. Bemis of Coalmont, Indiana, & sisters-in-law Dorothy Bemis of Linton, Indiana and Norma Bemis of Coalmont, Indiana. Surviving as well is her daughter-in-law Marie Anne Rehmel of Lexington, Kentucky. Anna is also survived by many grandchildren; Denise (Jay) Breden, Cindy (David) Kwast, Evan (Peggy) Gay, Aden (Lori) Gay, Robert (Heather) Rehmel, Steven (Barbara) Rehmel, Donald (Lisa) Rehmel), Ronald (Michele) Rehmel, Jeffery (Mary Lisa) Rehmel, Christopher Rehmel, Marcy (D.J.) Schiedler, Brian McCartney, & Pam (Edd) Banks. There are also 29 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren surviving also.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, infant Cora Bell Bemis, Ruby Bemis, & Mary Bemis, her brothers Alvie Bemis, John Bemis & Emery Bemis, a sister in law, Lora Bemis, a son Edward Rehmel, a daughter-in-law Karen Rehmel, her grandchildren Michael Rehmel, Kathleen Rehmel and Julie Ann Rehmel, and a great great granddaughter, Bethany Grace Schiedler.
Visitation will be held from 3-7 pm Monday, May 30, 2016 at Ireland Road Church of God, 16555 Ireland Road, Mishawaka, Indiana 46544 and one hour prior to the 11:00 am funeral service on Tuesday, May 31, 20016 at the church. Rev. J. Mark Muncy will officiate the service and interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola. Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home is entrusted with her care.
Anna was employed in the food service department at Elsie Rogers Elementary School for several years. She enjoyed making crafts, crocheting, & sewing, gardening & flowers and cooking for her family.
Her greatest joy was her dedication to the Lord, and she served Him faithfully for her entire life. She and her husband Raymond were founding and charter members of the Milburn Boulevard Church of God (now Ireland Road Church of God), where she taught Sunday school for many years.
In her memory, donations may be given to the Ireland Road Church of God or to Grace Hospice.
