Annie Marie Shank-Gentner, age 94, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015 at her home in Osceola. The McRae, Arkansas native was born August 2, 1921 to the late Orlando P. and Malissa C. (Bone) Roberts. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Emmett Shank in 1987. On May 25, 1995, she married Kenneth E. Gentner Sr. in Osceola. They recently celebrated 20 years of marriage.
Surviving is her husband Kenneth of Osceola, and her sons, Glenn (Penny) Shank of Lexington, Missouri and Perry (Schryl) Shank of Walkerton, Indiana. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren; Lori Shank-Thompson, Jamie Shank, Michael (Michelle) Shank, Rochelle (Randy) Matthews, Stephanie (Lewis) Turner and Tiffany (Dustin) Kring. Marie is also survived by her great-grandchildren; T.J. Michael Szalewski, Amber Marie Szalewski, Kailee Marie Shank, Laney Renee Shank, Mason Dakota Shank, Adreana Nicole Sharp, Josh Shank, Taylor Shank, Patience Turner, and Dustin Kring Jr., along with her great-great grandchildren Aubree Szalewski and Jayce Shank. Marie was preceded in death by her siblings James P. Roberts, Kenneth B. Roberts, Dorothy Wyatt, and Mary Juanita Simmons, as well as her grandson Zachary Turner.
Marie was employed for many years at Ball Band in Mishawaka, and later at Exacto of Elkhart before her retirement. She enjoyed bowling in the International Paper Mixed Bowling League with her husband Emmett, and won several championships during their time in the league. Marie was a member of First General Baptist Church of Osceola for over 60 years, where she served as the church treasurer during that time. She was also a Missionary with the Women’s Missionary Society for over 50 years, serving families in the Philippines and Costa Rica. Marie has a heart of gold and a precious soul. She cherished and loved her family and friends dearly.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday, September 4, 2015 at First General Baptist Church of Osceola, 11101 McKinley Highway, Osceola, Indiana 46561. Interment will follow in Osceola Cemetery.
In her memory, donations may be made to the Women’s Missionary Service through the First General Baptist Church of Osceola.
