Arthur D. “Art” Price, of Granger, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025, at the age of 86. He went to be with the Lord, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and generosity. Born on June 23, 1938, to the late Arthur R. and Vearl L. (Drake) Price, Art lived a life guided by his faith in the Lord. He was a dedicated member of Michiana Community Church, where he was loved by all—from the children, to whom he gave dimes and big hugs each week for the offering plate, to the elders, whom he counseled and discipled. His kindness and unwavering faith made a lasting impact on his church family. On September 4, 1971, Art married Dawn R. Peets in Wabash, Indiana. Together, they shared 53 wonderful years of marriage.
Art is survived by his beloved wife, Dawn Price of Granger, and their children: Sandra (Michael) Smith of Granger, Julie Price, Duane Price, and Michael Price, all of Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was a proud grandfather to Addison Haines, whom he affectionately nicknamed “Munch.” But to many who knew and loved him, he was simply “Papa.” He is also survived by his sister, Karen Price of Grand Rapids and his nephew whom he adored, Kyle Hogendyk. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Sandra, Rick, and Phil Price.
A hardworking entrepreneur, Art was self-employed for many years. He founded A & R Industries, where he helped countless customers with lighting and design. Later, he established JRA Industries, purchasing and rehabilitating homes—a passion he shared with his grandson, Addison. But to Art, those he worked with were never just clients; they became family.
Art loved to travel with his family and friends. He cherished his visits to Israel and Ireland and spent many joyful moments in Tennessee and South Carolina. When he wasn’t traveling, he could often be found on the golf course, enjoying the game he loved.
Above all, Art was a man of boundless generosity. He gave of his time and money, often quietly and anonymously, never expecting anything in return. He was always willing to help when called upon, and his selflessness touched countless lives. Art’s kindness, devotion, and servant’s heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of Art’s life will be held at 4pm Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Michiana Community Church in Granger. Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Osceola has been entrusted with his care.
