Bertha J Pearish, age 100 of Mishawaka, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 4, 2020 after a short illness. Bert was born November 25, 1919 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Frank and Cecilia (Posmodi) Zernick. She was preceded in death by her husband Harley “Red” Pearish in 1977. Bert was also preceded in death by her dear friend Steve Wincek in 2010.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews; Steve Banic Jr, Barbara Shearer, Pat Patterson, Joni Fry, David Banic, Bobby Banic, Polly Pruitt, Rosie Ray, Freddie Williamson, Nancy Haskins and Alma Boers. Surviving as well are many great, great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her niece Helen Dowell and her nephews Mike Banic, Martin Banic, and Bruce Williamson.
Cremation will take place and a graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Highland Cemetery in South Bend. Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola is assisting with services.
Bert was employed for many years at Ball Band in Mishawaka until her retirement at age 57. In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, baking and cooking for her family, gardening, playing euchre and other card games with her family and dancing.
