Bette Jane (Noble) Lockhart

Osceola, Indiana formerly of Marion, Indiana

Bette Jane Lockhart (née Noble), age 82 formerly of Marion, Indiana, passed away on May 1, 2023, at Elkhart Place Assisted Living in Elkhart, Indiana. Bette was born in Oberlin, Ohio on December 10, 1940, to the late Delphos B. and Nellie V. (Huron) Noble. She earned her associate degree in nursing and later devoted her life to being a homemaker. Bette cherished the time she spent raising her children and the wonderful times she spent with her grandchildren. On May 7, 1996, she married Clarence "Red" Lockhart who preceded her in death on October 31, 2021.

Bette is survived by her daughters Tammy (Joel) Victor of Elkhart and Tena (Bobby) Cook of Jonesboro, Indiana; 5 grandchildren Ashley (Chaz) Chamberlain, Corlisa Stanley, Francine Stanley, Danielle Sheldon and Becky (Travis) Ort; and several great-grandchildren. Bette was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Diana Keeler and Caroline Grove.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the 3:00pm funeral service on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Shepherds Heart Fellowship Church, 58362 Beech Road, Osceola, Indiana. Private interment will follow at White Pigeon Township Cemetery in Michigan. Cruz Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with her care. Bette will be remembered for her generosity and the numerous not for profit organizations she supported. She was also a longtime member of the "Red Hat Society," the Bethel Worship Center Church of Marion, Indiana and faithfully attended Shepherd’s Heart Fellowship Church of Osceola. Bette had a love for gardening, flowers, her dogs and travelling, where she enjoyed collecting souvenirs and seashells along the way. She was an actress in the War of 1812 reenactment and was an avid collector of antiques, ranging from records to Raggedy Ann dolls.
