Betty Jane (Vicsek) Everts

b. February 17, 1931

Granger

Betty Jane Everts, age 90 of Granger, passed away at her winter home in Florida on April 10, 2021 after a brief illness.  Betty was born February 17, 1931 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Joseph and Anna (Stawinski) Vicsek.  On April 29, 1950, she married the love of her life, Richard Everts, at Zion Evangelical & Reformed Church in South Bend.   A true love story, Betty and Dick celebrated 67 years of marriage during their life together.

Betty is survived by her children Debra (Jim) Whetstone of Granger, Richard Lee (Dorothy) Everts of Franklin, Ohio, Patricia (Steven) Konstant of Greenville, South Carolina and Randal (Laura) Everts of Englewood, Florida.  Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her siblings Alex, Johnny and Joe Vicsek.

Betty was employed for over 32 years at the Uniroyal Corporation in Mishawaka.  In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling across the United States with her husband and family.  She loved making memories with family and friends at Shavehead Lake.  She spent many winters in Florida and enjoyed playing shuffleboard, bocce ball, and cards.  She was also an avid bowler.  Betty had an annual tradition of making Christmas cookies with the kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.  She was known for making some of the best kieflies ever.  She was a loving, caring woman who touched the lives and hearts of hundreds of people.   She always put others before herself and she will be missed more than words can describe.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola.  Funeral services will be held at 10 am Friday, April 16, 2021 at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola and Betty will be laid to rest beside her husband Dick in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Betty's service will be streamed in real time on Friday by following this link. http://us02web.zoom.us/j/5746748689 The virtual lobby will open at 9:30 am and the staff of Cruz Family Funeral Home will admit those who wish to join beginning at 9:30 am EST.
