OSCEOLA- Betty J. Katterheinrich, 89, of Osceola, passed away at 7:35 p.m. Tuesday June 10, 2014 at Waterford Estates in Hazel Crest, Illinois. She was born February 1, 1925 in St. Joseph County, Indiana to Levi & Sylvia (Pittman) Madlem. On May 23, 1943 in Mishawaka she married Lloyd James Katterheinrich. He preceded her in death on June 8, 1977 in Osceola. Surviving are two children, Larry (Marion) Katterheinrich of Frankfort, IL, Sharon (Richard) Smith of Oceanside, CA; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and one sister, Phyllis Wenger of Wakarusa. She was preceded in death by one brother, Arvan Madlem and a sister, Berna Ulrich. Betty was a member of the Osceola United Methodist Church, a member of the Women of the Moose and she enjoyed cooking, sewing and knitting. She was a licensed beautician and had a beauty shop in her home for many years. She retired from Whitehall Laboratories. Visitation will be from 11-12 on Saturday June 14, 2014 at Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home in Osceola. After visitation a procession will form at the funeral home. A graveside service will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Her son-in-law, Rev. Richard Smith will preside. Memorial contributions may be given to the Osceola United Methodist Church.
