MISHAWAKA-Betty D. Kerns 59, passed away at 7:15 am, October 11, 2013 at St. Joseph Regional Med. Center. She was born September 3, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois to Norman & Betty (Patchin) Proper. On October 18, 1975 in Hinsdale, Illinois she married Wayne A. Kerns. He survives along with 1 child; Melanie (Patrick) McGarry, 2 grandchildren; Sean McGarry and Charlie McGarry, and her mother; Betty Proper all of Mishawaka. Also surviving is 1 brother; Norman Proper of Georgia. She was preceded in death by her father, Norman Proper. Betty enjoyed scrapbooking and photography, but her pride and joy was her grandchildren. Visitation will be an hour prior to the 11:00 am service, Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Presiding will be Pastor Bob Vale from Osceola United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Joseph County Humane Society. Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
