Beverly Jane (Graves) Woodruff, age 88, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka. Bev was born to the union of Lowell and Odessa (Rice) Graves on July 8, 1932 in Mishawaka where she has lived her entire life. On February 21, 1955, she married her best friend and love of her life, William Woodruff.
Surviving are her sons William (Norma) Woodruff Jr. and Ronald (Bobbi Jo) Woodruff, both of Mishawaka, four grandchildren; William (Amanda) Woodruff III of Beckley, West Virginia, Patrick (Stephanie) Woodruff of Mishawaka, Brandon (Lacee) Woodruff of N. Chicago, Illinois, and Katie (Jacob) Dixon of Mishawaka, and fourteen great grandchildren; Alyssa, Addison and William “Liam” IV Woodruff of West Virginia, Isabella, Benjamen, Emillyn, Annelyse Woodruff of Illinois and Olivia and Austin Mitchell, Scarlett Dixon, Nicole, Aaron, Laurie Ann and Rochelle Woodruff, all of Mishawaka. Surviving as well as her sisters-in-law Barbara Graves and Patricia Woodruff, her sister Opal Bufford, her brother, Larry Contat and her special friends Diane Borders and Juanita Shafer.
Preceding her in death were her parents Lowell and Odessa Graves-Contat, her step-father Gus Contat, and her husband of 54 years, William E. Woodruff Sr, as well as her siblings Minor and James Graves, Edna Anspaugh, her brother in law James Anspaugh and her infant grandson, Kenneth Lynn Woodruff.
Visitation will be held from 2-6 pm Sunday, October 4, 2020 at East United Methodist Church, 1621 E. 3rd Street, Mishawaka. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the 11am funeral service on Monday, October 5, 2020 at East United Methodist Church. Her grandson, Bishop William Woodruff III, and Bishop Charles Wiseman will officiate the service with Reverend Dorothy Jones hosting. Bev will be laid to rest privately next to her husband Bill Sr. in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka at a later date. Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Osceola has been entrusted with her arrangements.
Beverly was a faithful member of the Ireland Road Church of God in Mishawaka and she will be remembered for her faith in the Lord, her sweet demeanor, and her beautiful smile. Most of all, she was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all.
