Billie Jo Nelson

Billie Jo Nelson, age 42, passed away unexpectedly at St. Joseph Medical Center on June 7, 2021. Billie Jo was born November 14, 1978, to Billy and the late Penny (Garman) Nelson.  She was a graduate of Mishawaka High School and went on to earn her associate degree from Michiana College.  Billie Jo worked several years as the secretary for Garman Electric, Inc.

Surviving are her siblings Crystal (Mark) Nelson-Sickling, Christina Nelson, Michelle Cantrell, Jacquelyn Cantrell, Leah Perez, Candace Harkins, and Sarina Harkins. Also surviving are a grandmother and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  She was preceded in death by her sister Danielle Harkins.

Billie Jo cherished the simpler things in life. She loved to travel whenever possible, listen to music, watch her favorite TV shows, and she appreciated and enjoyed a well-prepared meal.  She also was extremely fond of watching the sun set, loved spending time with her nieces and nephews, and had a long-lasting friendship with Mary Jane.

There will be no formal services for Billie Jo, however the family will be hosting a celebration of life at the BK Club in Mishawaka on Saturday, June 19th from 1:00pm until 4:00pm.  Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Osceola has been entrusted with her care.
