Candace Sue Campbell, age 65, passed away with her family by her side at her home in Elkhart on Friday, August 7, 2020. Candace was born February 28, 1955 in Elkhart, Indiana to the late Don and Agatha (Burkhead ) Troyer. She was a graduate of Memorial High School, class of 1973. On August 24, 1974, she married Steven D. Campbell.
Surviving is her husband of 45 years, Steven D. Campbell of Elkhart and their children Jason Campbell of Nappanee, Melissa Campbell, and Brandi (Tom) Giles, both of Elkhart, her siblings Sandra (Tom) Baldwin of Florida, Diane (Bob) Sampers, Jeff (Vicki) Troyer, and Jody Buenger, all of Elkhart. Surviving as well are her grandchildren Samantha Campbell, Cami (Robert) Hargrove, Braydon Campbell, Bishop Williams and Kennedy and London Giles, as well as her great-granddaughter Brynley Hargrove and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her nephews Scott Sampers, Chad Baldwin, and her niece Gayte Buenger.
A celebration of Candace’s life will be held at a later date. Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Osceola is assisting with the arrangements.
Candace was employed for over 20 years with Osco Drug where she served in a supervisor’s position, and also in the cafeteria at Pinewood Elementary School for 14 years before retiring in 2009.
In her younger years, Candace enjoyed camping and canoeing with her family and coaching kids in T-ball in the Bristol Little League. An avid fan of her grandchildren’s sports, Candace enjoyed traveling with them in their numerous travel leagues to encourage and support them in their endeavors.
Most of all, Candace put her family first. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who made sure the needs of her family before her own. Her kind heart, warm smile, and caring nature will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched.
