Carl Steven Banacka, 66, of Bourbon, formerly Osceola, passed with family by his side, on Tuesday, July 23, 2024. He was born in Mishawaka on June 22, 1958, to the late Charles E. and Winnetta Emaline (Pieffer) Banacka, and later married and began his family.
Surviving are his three children, Virgil “Shawn” (Brandy Lopez) Bright of New Carlisle, Cody Bright of South Bend, and Samuel Banacka of Elkhart. Three grandchildren, Virgil “Anthony” (Rachel) Bright, of Plymouth, Cayden Bright of Mishawaka, and Indy Banacka of Elkhart, along with brothers, Richard Banacka of Mishawaka and Edward “Ed” Banacka of Salem, OR also survive. Carl’s family also wants to give thanks to his special friend Jenna for gifting the family with happiness and friendship to Carl.
Carl proudly served in the US Navy, where he lived in different states, including California, Florida, and Indiana, each place adding a unique chapter to his life story. As a truck driver, Carl traversed the entire country, experiencing the diverse landscapes and cultures of America. Despite his extensive travels, Carl found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved camping and hiking in new places, where he could immerse himself in nature's beauty. His Harley Davidson motorcycle was a source of immense joy, offering him the thrill of the open road and the serenity of long country drives. Above all, Carl cherished the moments spent with his family, valuing those connections more than anything else.
Per Carl’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there are no services scheduled at this time. Memorial donations may be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice in honor of Carl.
