Reverend Charles Thomas Pentecost went to be with his Lord and Savior with his family by his side on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at the age of 88. Charles was born March 25, 1935, in Akron, Ohio, to the late James T. and Pearl (Dockery) Pentecost. Charles met Helen Johnson and at the age of 19, they were married on June 1, 1954. They celebrated 58 years of marriage before her passing in 2013.
He is survived by three daughters: Rebecca Dudding of Scottsburg, Indiana, Beverly Pentecost of Mishawaka, Indiana, and Stacey (Derek) Hopson of Royal Oak, Michigan. Surviving as well are three grandchildren Paul Duane (Megan) Dudding, Brent (Beka) Dudding, Shania (Zachary) Cook and three great-grandchildren Lakelynn & Lincoln Dudding & Baby boy Dudding (arriving in July). Charles is also survived by his siblings Affie Stump, Penny Craig, Ann Keith, and A.J. Pentecost. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son-in-law Paul Dudding and his siblings David, James, Ruth, Paul, Belva and Dorothy.
Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the 3:00pm funeral service on Monday, April 17, 2023, at the Church of God of Prophecy, 12800 McKinley Highway, Mishawaka, Indiana, 46545. Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Osceola has been entrusted with his care. For those unable to attend, a livestream of his service will begin 15 minutes prior to the service in the video window below.
Brother Charles gave his heart to the Lord in Cabin Creek, West Virginia in 1943 at the age of 8, and served Him faithfully throughout his entire life. He preached his first sermon at the age of 16 and shortly thereafter, began his ministry as an assistant pastor. At the age of 17, he began preaching revival services and became a full-time minister in the Church of God of Prophecy at the age of 20, doing the Lord’s will until his retirement in September of 2021.
In his spare time, Charles was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. He was also a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and loved to use new technology to create videos of his family’s history and the wildlife he would hunt.
