Charles "Chuck" Leroy Eash

February 6, 1929 — September 24, 2021

Osceola

Charles LeRoy “Chuck” Eash, age 92 of Osceola, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 24, 2021.  Chuck was born February 6, 1929, in Osceola, Indiana to the late Wilbur and Mary (Henderson) Eash. On June 26, 1949, he married Inez Wisler at the Osceola Church of the Brethren.  Chuck heard the call of his country and was drafted into the United States Marine Corps where he served honorably during the Korean War from 1952-1954.  Following his time in the military, he worked in maintenance at Conn Selmer in Elkhart until the factory closed.  He then changed careers and worked in the automotive sales industry holding various positions within Putnam Imports, McHenry Auto Sales, and Linville Auto Sales which later became a part of Tom Naquin Auto before retiring at the age of 82.

Surviving is his wife of 72 years, Inez Eash of Osceola and their children Dale (Amy Powers) Eash and Karen Eash, both of Elkhart, his brother Everett (Barbara) Eash of Wisconsin, his sister-in-law Norma Eash, his grandchildren; Jonathan, Tasha and Sierra and his great-grandchildren Charlie and Brooklyn.  Chuck is also survived by his special niece Ruth (Tom) Hackler of Anderson, Indiana, a great niece Gelina (Robert Jr.) Trotter and a great-great niece, Genevieve Aurora “Evie” Trotter.  He was preceded in death by his siblings Edith Kamerer, Cliff Eash, and Harold J. Eash.

Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the 1:00pm funeral service on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola with Pastor Jacob Ballard of Timberline Bible Church of South Bend officiating.  Interment and military honors will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. A live stream of the service will be broadcast on the screen below beginning at 1pm Wednesday.

Chuck enjoyed spending time outdoors and was often found tending to his flowers, his garden, or just watching the neighbors drive by while sitting in his favorite chair in his garage. He was an avid sports fan and spent many years as an usher at Notre Dame.  He also enjoyed coaching Little League teams and served the Elkhart softball leagues as an umpire for several seasons.  Until just two years ago, Chuck, his son Dale and Dale’s childhood friends would load up in the Eash’s minivan and attend many of the sporting events, both home and away, for Penn High School.

Most of all, Chuck will be remembered for his honesty, values, the love of his family and the love he had for his Savior, Jesus Christ.  He and Inez were faithful attendants at Timberland Bible Church in South Bend. The family would like to express their thanks to both the families at Timberland Bible Church and Asera Care Hospice for the help and care given to Chuck during his time of need.
