Cheryll Diane Smith

Cheryll Diane Smith, age 75 of Osceola, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 27, 2022.  Cheryll was born September 24, 1946, in Mishawaka, Indiana to the late Wilbur and Ida (Kimmel) Wurtsbaugh.  She was a graduate of Penn High School, class of 1965.  On May 7, 1966, she married Gordon G. Smith at the Apostolic Temple Church in South Bend.  The Smith’s recently celebrated 56 years of marriage.

Surviving is her husband, Gordon Smith of Osceola and their children Tamra (Donald) Beachy, Michael Smith, and Crystal (Doug) Allen along with 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.  Surviving as well are her siblings Wilber D. “DeWayne” Wurtsbaugh, Karen Lower and Donald “Kenny” Wurtsbaugh.  Her sister Cindy Perkins and  daughter in law, Mindy Smith, preceded her in death.

A celebration of Cheryll’s life will be held at 6pm Friday, September 2, 2022, at Grace Point Church, 54662 Ash Road in Osceola where friends and family may visit one hour prior to her eulogy.  Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Osceola is assisting with the arrangements.

Cheryll was employed for over 20 years with Conn Selmer in Elkhart where she made silver soldered instruments for musicians worldwide.  In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time being outdoors, fishing and mushroom hunting.  She also loved to sit outside and watch the hummingbirds gather at the feeders she so lovingly maintained.

Mrs. Smith was a faithful member of Grace Point Church in Osceola and loved the Lord with all her heart. She and Gordon sought to lead others to Christ through numerous church activities and the prison ministry in Elkhart County.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend who dedicated the last 29 years of her life to her family, especially her grandchildren who were her whole world.
