Cindy (Gay) Kwast

December 28, 1962 — June 29, 2020

Cassopolis, Michigan

Cynthia Marie (Gay) Kwast, age 57 of Cassopolis, Michigan, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ while lying next to her husband and children on the afternoon of June 29, 2020.  Cindy was born December 28, 1962 in Mishawaka, Indiana.  She graduated from Edwardsburg High School and later married David Alan Kwast on October 8, 1983.

Surviving is her husband of 36 years, David A. Kwast of Cassopolis, Michigan, and their children David Kwast II and his wife Bethanna of Elkhart, Elizabeth Wold and her husband Landon of Vandalia, Michigan, and Marina Richey and her husband Abraham of Cassopolis, Michigan.  Also surviving are her parents Richard and LaDonna (Rehmel) Gay of Cassopolis, Michigan, and 11 grandchildren; Naomi, Madelyn & Ivy Kwast, Isaac, Elijah, Gideon, & Malachi Wold, and Jane, Elsie, Daniel & Ivan Richey, and two more grandchildren due in August of 2020.  Surviving as well are her siblings Denise Breden and her husband Jay of Edwardsburg, Michigan, Evan Gay and his wife Peggy of Elkhart, and Aden Gay and his wife Lori of Dowagiac, Michigan and her mother-in-law Barbara Kwast of Cassopolis, Michigan.   Preceding her in death was her father in law Edward Kwast, her grandson Joseph, and her brother-in-law Scott Kwast.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Northside Baptist Church, 53198 Co Rd 9, Elkhart, IN 46514.  There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the 10:0o am funeral service on Friday, July 3, 2020 at Northside Baptist Church.  Pastor Carl Henry will officiate the service and Cindy will be laid to rest following the service at Adamsville Cemetery in Edwardsburg, Michigan.  Cruz Family Funeral Home of Osceola, Indiana has been entrusted with her arrangements.

Cindy was employed outside the home for a short time prior to the birth of her children, and then became a dedicated mother, mentor, and friend to her son and daughters, embracing every special moment with them and passing her love for the Lord onto them as they became parents themselves. Although Cindy reluctantly agreed participate most times, she and her family enjoyed spending time outdoors hiking, canoeing, skiing and riding motorcycles.  Often when she was able, Cindy could be found crocheting and crafting, something she always wished she had more time for.

Most of all, Cindy had a heart for the Lord and the patience to teach Sunday School to the 2 & 3 year old children and volunteered her time with AWANA at Northside Baptist where she shared her faith with the little ones and started them on the path to salvation.  During her time attending Diamond Cove Missionary Church in Cassopolis, Cindy was the director and coach of the Bible quiz team for many years.

In her memory, donations may be made towards the Missions at Northside Baptist Church.  To view her online video tribute, write a memory or message of condolence for the Kwast family, or light a virtual candle in her memory, please follow the links provided on the Tribute Wall tab above.
