Clarence Leonard “Sonny” Chambers Jr., age 84 passed away with his family by his side on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at his home in Osceola. Sonny was born May 23, 1938, in Mahan, West Virginia to the late Clarence L. Sr. and Marcella Ruth (Fisher) Chambers. He attended Mishawaka High School and later enlisted in the US Navy. On May 19, 1979, he married Darlene Robinson in Elkhart, Indiana.
Darlene survives, along with their children Leonard (Anna) Chambers, Raymond Chambers, Charles (Pam Holsinger) Sharp, Matthew (Kimberly) Sharp, Samuel (Rochelle Owen) Sharp, Julius Vergauens and Chuck Vergauens. Surviving as well are 4 grandchildren: David, Tim and Alyssa Sharp and Able Russel. Sonny is also survived by his siblings Stanley and Vernon Chambers, Julie Ford and Ruth Powell, along with his special nephew Mark Niver. His parents and his brother Raymond Chambers preceded him in death.
A celebration of Sonny’s life will be held at a later time. Cruz Family Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.
Sonny was employed as a truck driver for his entire career and retired from Statewide Aluminum. He also served the Osceola community as an auxiliary Police Officer during the 1980’s.
In his spare time, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, spending time outdoors, drag racing at the Osceola Dragway and spending time with his boys working on cars in his garage. Most of all, he enjoyed going to family reunions and spending his time with those closest to him.
