Darlene Kay Chambers, age 76, passed away at her home in Osceola on Sunday, April 2, 2023. Darlene was born March 8, 1947, to the late Marion C and Loneda (Hummel) Robinson in Mishawaka, Indiana. She attended Penn High School and on May 19, 1979, she married Clarence, “Sonny” Chambers in Elkhart, Indiana. Sonny preceded her in death on October 22, 2022.
She is survived by her sons Charles (Pam Holsinger) Sharp, Matthew (Kimberly) Sharp, Samuel (Rochelle Owen) Sharp, her grandchildren David, Tim, and Alyssa (Seth Krumm) Sharp, Abel Russell, and Kauri and Cortney Tomkiewicz, as well as her special nephew Mark Niver. Surviving as well are her siblings Janice Gibson, Marvin Robinson, Judy Cunningham, and Lucy (Dave) Tener. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Kathy K. Sharp, and her siblings Wallace Robinson, James Robinson, Marilyn Niver and Mary Hershberger.
A celebration of her life will be held from 1-5 pm Saturday, April 29, 2023, at the Osceola United Methodist Church. Time of service will be announced closer to the date. Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Osceola has been entrusted with her care.
Darlene was employed for over 20 years with Foam Technology. In her spare time, she loved watching and filming her husband and sons drag race at the Osceola Dragstrip, helping them work on their engines, and spending time at the track with her friends and family. Darlene also loved spending time on the St. Joseph River with Sonny and her family aboard their pontoon boat.
She loved serving her hometown and spent numerous years on the Osceola Police Department as an auxiliary officer in the 1980’s where she excelled in marksmanship. Darlene was also was a longtime member of the Osceola United Methodist Church and volunteered her time with REAL Services, delivering meals to those in need.
Most of all, she loved being a wife, mother and grandmother to her family. Her sweet spirit and generous nature will be missed by those who knew her.
