David R. Hoeflinger, Sr. age 78 of Osceola, Indiana passed away peacefully at 6am at his son’s home in Syracuse, Indiana on Sunday, March 5, 2017. David was born September 27, 1938 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Harold D. and Ethel (Burden) Hoeflinger.
Surviving are his children Mark Hoeflinger and Kelly Dennis, both of Elkhart, and David R. (Tammy) Hoeflinger, Jr. of Syracuse, Indiana. Also surviving is his brother Bob (Rita) Sheire of St. Petersburg, Florida and ten grandchildren; Janice, Barbie, Wynona, Karly, Mick, Kyle, Chelsea, Chase, Catlin & Tyler. David is also survived by twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his infant son David Scott Hoeflinger and his siblings Marvin & Patricia.
There will be a time of memorial visitation for friends and family from 5-8 pm Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Zimmerman Inman Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services for Mr. Hoeflinger have been entrusted to Veteran’s Funeral Care of Clearwater, Florida, (727) 524-9209 where funeral services will be held at the Starkey Road Baptist Church. Interment and Military Honors will follow in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.
David enlisted in the US Army, and served honorably from 1962-1967. He later became a Tool & Die maker, working for over 40 years with Bamar Plastics in South Bend, retiring at the age of 58. David also enjoyed spending time antiquing, and owned his own antiques shop for many years.
In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf and fishing. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR races and attended many races throughout his lifetime. David was also loved serving the Lord and was a longtime member of Brethren Christian Church in Osceola.
The Hoeflinger family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff, nurses and physicians of Goshen Hospice for the care and concern given to David during his time of need. In his memory, donations may be given to Goshen Hospice.
