Dawson Jeffrey McConville, age 20, of Battle Creek, Michigan passed away unexpectedly on Monday April 18, 2022. Dawson was born June 20, 2001, in Lexington, Kentucky to Myron and Dawn (Hopkins) McConville. Growing up the McConville family was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, where Dawson attended Kubasaki High school until his junior year. They were later transferred to North Carolina where he continued his studies then graduated from Swansboro High school in 2019. Dawson followed in his father’s footsteps and enrolled at Bethel University where he continued his family’s legacy of service by entering the university’s pre-med program. While on campus, Dawson worked as a lab assistant and tutored fellow students in several subjects.
Dawson is survived by his parents Dawn and Myron McConville of San Antonio, Texas, his siblings Jacob McConville (USMC) of Camp Pendleton, California, and Hailey McConville of San Antonio, Texas. Surviving as well are his grandparents Hank and Sue Hopkins of Battle Creek, Michigan, Kathy Katz of Ceresco, Michigan and Jeff (Alicia) McConville of Athens, Michigan. Surviving as well are several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 25, 2022, from 5-6:30 PM at Granger Missionary Church, 50841 Birch Rd. Granger, Indiana. Pastor Jason Dickinson will officiate the 6:30 PM funeral service immediately following the visitation. In his spare time Dawson enjoyed playing the guitar, and spending time with his friends. His kindness and compassion drew others to him, and he made friends easily. Dawson was a friend to all and was respected by his peers and adults alike.
Most of all, Dawson loved the Lord and had a servant’s heart. His faith in the Lord was unwavering, as evidenced by his well-worn bible and the notes he made in the margins. Dawson was active in his church’s youth groups while his family was stationed in Japan, North Carolina and Alabama. He had a heart for missions and went on two mission trips serving in Cambodia. While on campus, Dawson volunteered his time a part of the summer camp Lead Team.
