Dennis L. "Kelly" Kelly

January 11, 1951 — August 11, 2024

Elkhart

Dennis L. “Kelly” Kelly, 73, of Elkhart, took his final breath at home, Sunday, August 11, 2024, after a courageous battle with throat cancer. He was born in Cincinnati, OH on January 11, 1951, to the late Eugene Prior and Thelma Kelly. And later spent many years with his partner in crime, Denise Brassie.
Denise survives along with Kelly’s children, Ryan (Emily) Kelly of Warsaw, Courtney (Reyes Brown) Brantley of Fort Wayne, and the daughter of his heart, Lacey (John) Cockrell of KY. Kelly also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, and a friend, who was more like a brother, Michael (Karen) Christopher.
For more than 30 years, Kelly dedicated himself to serving his community as a wholesale auto parts dealer, providing essential supplies to numerous local dealers and service shops. He genuinely cherished the time spent with shop staff, listening to their stories, and forming personal connections. Beyond his work, Kelly found joy in spending time with family and friends, golfing, attending antique car shows, cheering for the Reds and 49ers, and lending a helping hand wherever he could. He also took immense pride in his newfound faith, loving the Psalms. Known for his great sense of humor, Kelly often signed off with his famous phrase, "Glad you got to see me."
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, August 17, at Hofferth’s Shelter of Baugo Creek Park, Osceola from 2-6pm with food and fellowship for those who are able to attend.
In lieu of flowers and to honor Kelly’s life memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society. To light a virtual candle, share a story of Kelly’s life, or offer a message of comfort to his family, please visit the Tribute Tab.
