South Bend

Diane Rebecca Konkol-Schram, age 68 of South Bend, passed away March 19, 2022 at the Center for Hospice, Raclin House.  Diane was born May 1, 1953, in South Bend, Indiana to Edward and the late Josephine (Spagnola) Pruett.  She attended St. Joe High School and worked for a time outside of her home, but she enjoyed spending the majority of her years as a homemaker to her family.

She is survived by her husband Jack Schram of Niles, Michigan, and her children Kenneth James (Constance) Konkol Jr. of Gainesville, Virginia, Matthew David (Natalie) Konkol of South Bend, James Derek Konkol of Mishawaka, Melissa Josephine Konkol of Mishawaka and Bryan Edward (Alysia) Konkol of South Bend.  Surviving as well are her siblings Robert Henderson, Margaret (William) Korn, and Susan Pruett (Rose Zlotkowski) Johnson, as well as 7 grandchildren: Cassandra Lynne (Chase) Gaerte, Mason James Konkol, James Michael Konkol, Alyssa Maree Jacobsen, Samuel Wayne Shively, Derek Allen Shively, and Conner Joseph Konkol and her great grandson Vincent Ismael Alfaro. She is also survived by many beloved and cherished nieces, nephews, and close friends whom she held dear to her heart. The fathers of her children, Kenneth James Konkol Sr. and Kenneth Allen Mackowicz survive as well.  She was preceded in death by James McQueeney.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm Friday, March 25, 2022, at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola.  Funeral Services will be held at 10 am Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Cruz Family Funeral Home with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka.

Diane was one of the most loving moms to ever walk the earth and her family was blessed to have her as the “rock” to their family. While having five kids of her own, there was never a nephew or niece, her children’s' friends or acquaintances she met who didn’t end up calling her “Mom.”  This was a trait passed down to Diane from her own mother.

In her younger years, Diane enjoyed camping with her family, shopping for a great deal, and loved to cook.  She was always one to put the needs of her family and others before her own, Diane was extremely compassionate with her time and would give generously to those who were in need.
