Donald Franklin Stephic

Donald Franklin Stephic, age 67 of Bristol, passed away Sat. May 13, 2017 at Hospice of Elkhart County. Donald was born March 21, 1950 in Elkhart.

Surviving are his sons Donald F. (Toni) Stephic II and Shane A. (Natasha Brown) Stephic, both of Elkhart.  Also surviving is his mother Irene Stephic of Elkhart, his longtime companion Cathy Burke of Bristol, 2 grandchildren Nicholas Stephic and Nichole Stephic, 2 great granddaughters Madison and Adelyn, his brothers Eugene Oliver Stephic of Marion, IN and Charles Allen (Brenda) Stephic of Elkhart and his step son-in-law Paul Slater of Australia.  Donald was preceded in death by his father Franklin Oliver Stephic, his wife Roberta Stephic, a step-daughter Christine Slater and his sister Patricia Ann Hummel.

There will be one hour of visitation prior to the 6:00 pm celebration of life service  on May 20, 2017 service at the Bristol United Methodist Church 201 S. Division Street, Bristol, IN 46507.  Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting with arrangements.

Donald was an ASE Certified Mechanic for nearly 50 years, working initially at Pete Fall Ford and later opening “Don’s Auto Service” in Bristol. He later sold the business and began working for Culp’s Auto Clinic until his illness forced retirement.   Donald also spent several years as a volunteer firefighter.

In his spare time, he and Cathy travelled the United States, following many famous routes like Route 66.  One of Donald’s favorite places to spend time in was Siesta Key, Florida.  Donald also was an avid motorcycle rider and enjoyed many rides across the country, especially the Tail of the Dragon and the Blue Ridge Parkway.  His kind and generous nature will be missed by all.
