Surviving as well are her grandchildren Glenn Peterson, Matthew (Kali) Boggs, Katie Boggs, and Meghan Boggs, her great granddaughter Samantha, and her 2 “grand-dogs” Zeus and Sergeant. Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, David Lee Peterson in 2020.
Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the 2:00 pm funeral service at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola on Friday, September 2, 2022. Following her service, Dorothy will be laid to rest by her husband Robert in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. A livestream of her service will begin 10 minutes prior to her service and can be viewed in the window below.
Dorothy worked for a short time with Calumet Title in Gary before dedicating her life to becoming a homemaker and raising her children. She had a “green thumb” and loved spending time tending to the numerous flowers and plants around her home. Although Dorothy loved the beauty of all her flowers, her favorite flowers to raise were African Violets. In her younger days, she enjoyed playing golf and riding her bicycle. She was also an amazing cook who perfected her “World Famous” Macaroni and Cheese and Corn Casserole.
Dorothy was also a longtime member of the Osceola United Methodist Church where she was active in any activity the church would put together. Her love for Christ and others in need led her to start the Mental Health Association of Porter County to provide services for those in need.
Most of all, Dorothy loved her family immensely. She loved hosting family game nights where the family would gather and play euchre, canasta, and all kinds of other card games. She also loved both spoiling and supporting her grandchildren and never missed games or school events they participated in.
Although Dorothy was a breast cancer survivor, her family respectfully requests that donations be made to the Arthritis Foundation in her memory.
