Mishawaka

Douglas Arthur Jones, age 80 of Mishawaka, passed away with his family by his side at the Center for Hospice, Raclin House, on September 2, 2022.  Doug was born August 18, 1942, in Bremen, Indiana to the late David and Mattie (Pedigo) Jones.  He was a graduate of Bremen High School.  In August of 1959, the call of his country was heard, and Doug enlisted in the US Marine Corps where he served honorably until his discharge in August of 1964.  While serving, Doug achieved the rank of a Sergeant (E-5). On June 4, 1966, he married the former Ms. Tina Marie Rodgers.  Doug and Tina recently celebrated 56 years of marriage.

Surviving is his wife, Tina M. Jones of Mishawaka and their children Suzanne Jones of Osceola, Carolyn (Dave) Rozmarynowski and MacArthur Douglas (Amy) Jones, both of Mishawaka.  Surviving as well are his grandchildren Melissa El-aroussi, Justin Byrd, Shawna Byrd, Hayley Byrd, Rayne (Damion) Spaulding, Matty (Izzy) Deakin, Ariana Maxey, Logan Maxey, Steven Christman and Savanah Jones, as well as his sister Louise (Douglas) Golden.  Doug was preceded in death by 7 siblings.

There will be no formal services for Doug.  The family asks that you remember him in your own special way. Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting with his arrangements.

Doug was a skilled carpenter and worked in construction for many years.  He was also the Vice President of Leo Applicators in Mishawaka for over 20 years before his retirement at the age of 65.  His knowledge of the skilled trades allowed him to share his love of construction by teaching his son Mac all about how things are built.

In his spare time, Doug enjoyed reading books about war and watching western movies on tv. In his memory, donations may be made to Pet Refuge in South Bend.
