Ellen was a longtime member of South Side General Baptist Church, where she served the Lord with all her heart and always challenged her pastors, Adolph Lacy, Jeff Little and Tim Cocanower with biblical questions. Her dedication to her faith extended beyond her local congregation, as she actively participated in General Baptist Women's Ministries on the local, national, and international levels.
Ellen was employed by the University of Notre Dame, where she worked as an administrative assistant for 32 and a half years before her retirement. She worked in the College of Engineering, the Office of the Provost and the Department of Theology. Outside of work, she enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She loved spending time at the Mishawaka Riverwalk and Beutter Park, often attending concerts with her friends and family. Known for her elegance and grace, Ellen was always put together before leaving her home. Her impeccable style and warm personality left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Most of all, her greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother to her daughters, and a cherished grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her endearing love and support were evident in her presence at all their activities, where she always cheered them on with pride. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In her memory, donations may be made to the South Side General Baptist Church. To light a virtual candle, share a story of her life, or leave a message of comfort for her family, please follow the links provided on the tribute wall tab above.
