Evelyn V. (Phillips) Cobb

February 19, 1937 — June 13, 2017

Today, Tuesday, June 13, 2017, Heaven received another Angel.

Evelyn V. (Phillips) Cobb was born February 19, 1937 in Traverse City, Michigan to Richard and Helen (Haskel) Phillips.  She attended Traverse City Schools until they moved to Burlington, Wisconsin and started High School.  She was a member of the Burlington High School class of 1955.

On April 7, 1955, she married Roger L. Cobb in a military wedding at Fort Riley, Kansas.  She spent the next two years with her husband in Germany.  Of this union, they had five children; Terry (Lynn) Cobb, Cynthia (Greg) Nelson, Sharon Nocek (Warren Furman, Jeffrey (Carla) Cobb and Patti (Tim) Slayden.  Evelyn was a stay at home mom raising the children until the late 1970’s when she and her husband (along with the Wilsons) built the Skate Barn in Burlington, Wisconsin.  In the 1980’s they sold out and moved to Michigan City, Indiana and purchased the USA Skating Center.  After a real estate deal there, they returned to Racine, Wisconsin and operated Skatetown USA.  In 1999, Evelyn and Roger decided to retire and travel.  They purchased a motor home and spent the winters in Florida and the summers travelling, right up to this year.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, her five children, thirteen grandchildren seventeen great grandchildren, two brothers; Phillip Benny Phillips of San Diego, California and Richard Phillips of Joliet, Illinois, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Harold, Raymond, and Robert and a great grandson, Daniel Monteith.

Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting with a private cremation ceremony. The Cobb family has planned a Celebration of Evelyn’s Life from 12-4 pm Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the Rochester Village Municipal Hall, 300 W. Spring St. Rochester, WI  53167.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in her memory to the Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, Indiana 46545.  The Cobb family would like to thank the Doctors and staff at Elkhart General Hospital and the staff at the Elkhart Campus Center for Hospice Care for the care and concern shown to Evelyn in her time of need.
