Frankie Lee Lemons

d. January 21, 2024

Frankie Lee Lemons, age 82 of Elkhart, went to be with the Lord on January 21, 2024.  Miss Frankie was born January 26, 1941, in Tipton County, Tennessee to the late Eddie Sr. and Bonnie Mae (Smith) Clark.  In 1955, she married Charles Lemons Sr., who preceded her in death on January 18, 1998.

Mrs. Lemons was employed in the environmental services department of the Holiday Inn of Elkhart for over 20 years.  In her spare time, she loved to plant flowers in her yard and was an amazing cook.  Over the years, Frankie enjoyed taking trips down South with her family for reunions and family gatherings. She also loved to spend time talking for hours on the phone with her friends or going out to eat with them to catch up on what was happening in their lives. Most of all, Frankie was a loving mother to her children and always put her family first.  She took great interest in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren’s activities, supporting them and cheering them on in every endeavor.

Frankie also loved the Lord with all her heart and was a longtime member of Pilgrim Rest Church where she dedicated her time as a member of the church choir. Frankie was a pillar in the community. She loved and helped everyone; she saw in need! She enjoyed sitting on her front porch and conversating with her family. She enjoyed McDonald’s and would always order a cheeseburger, large coffee and an ice cream cone.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children; Lula (James) Williams, Diane Lemons, Kevin Lemons, 24 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren and her sister Johnnie (Charles) Peete, and special nephew; Shai Jones, all of Elkhart and a host of nephews, nieces, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her children; Virginia Jackson, Shirley Thomas, Flora Diane Lemons and Charles Lemons Jr; Siblings: Earnest Clark, June Clark, Viola Clark, Mae Emma Payne & Susie Whitelaw; great grandson; nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the 12:00pm funeral service on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 802 W Garfield Ave, Elkhart, IN 46516.  Following her service, Frankie will be laid to rest beside Charles Sr. in Rice Cemetery, Elkhart.
