George J. Nate Jr., age 82, passed away April 27, 2022, at Creekside Village in Mishawaka. George grew up in South Bend, went to Saint Joseph Grade School, and graduated from John Adams High School. George enlisted and was proud to be a United States Marine Corps veteran.
George was preceded in death by his parents George and Rosemary (Colella) Nate, and twin brother John. George is survived by a son Joe (Sherri) Nate of Mishawaka, and three daughters: Christina (Robert) Williams of Valparaiso; Angela Nate of Granger; and Amanda (Rodney) Holcomb of Granger. He is also survived by five grandchildren Ashley Walther, Autumn Holcomb, Reegen Holcomb, Brooke Holcomb, and Austin Holcomb, and two great-grandchildren Reid Walther and Ellie Walther. Also surviving is a sister Maryanne (Peter) Denisi, and brothers Tom (Sheila) Nate, and Mike (Lu Ann) Nate, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until 10:30 am at Cruz Family Funeral Home, 1109 Lincolnway West, Osceola. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Mishawaka. Following mass, George will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens where military honors will be rendered.
George was a unique person who collected unique items. He was also a longtime member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mishawaka. The Nate family would like to thank Yvonne from Heart to Heart Hospice for the loving care she extended to George.
