Glendon Ray Woodard

August 6, 1951 — May 8, 2021

Osceola

Glendon Ray Woodard, age 69 of Osceola, passed away at Elkhart General Hospital on Saturday, May 8, 2021.  Glen was born August 6, 1951 in Davidson County, Tennessee to Kenneth Woodard and Wanda Dodd.  On August 7, 1970, Glen married his high-school sweetheart, Sharon DeLater in Granger, Indiana.  They celebrated nearly 51 years of marriage.

Sharon survives, along with Glen’s siblings Karen (Wayne) Scott of South Bend, Indiana, Roy and Randy Dodd, both of Waynesboro, Tennessee, and Robby Dodd of Cypress Inn, Tennessee. Surviving as well is his stepmother Shirley Woodard, his mother in law Anna DeLater and his brothers-in-law Larry (Star) DeLater, Jerry (Judy) DeLater, and Terry  (Carol) DeLater, as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his siblings Rosie Staggs and Ronnie Dodd and his stepfather Roy Dodd.

Following Glen’s wishes, there will be no formal services held. The Woodard family asks that you remember Glen in your own special way.

Glen began his employment in 1969 at Clark Metal Last before retiring as a foreman at the time of their closing in 2006.  In his spare time, Glen loved watching Notre Dame Football and spending time fishing.

He and Sharon enjoyed spending time with their family and loved and supported his many nieces and nephews in their academic and sporting endeavors.

Most of all, Glen was kind and gentle natured and he will be remembered as a man who put others first in everything he did. His attitude was always positive, and he loved to go out of his way to bring joy to his family and friends through his sense of humor and love of laughter.

In memory of his mother Wanda, the Woodard family would like donations given in Glen’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.  To leave a message of condolence, light a virtual candle in Glen’s memory, or share a story of his life, please follow the links provided on the tribute wall tab above.
