Homer L. Culp, age 82 of Elkhart, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 14, 2016, at Hubbard Hill Retirement Community with his wife of nearly 60 years, Faye, at his side.

Homer was born November 3, 1933 in Osceola to the late George and Fannie (Will) Culp and before moving to Hubbard Hill 4 years ago he was a lifelong resident of Osceola. Homer was also preceded in death by his brother, Warren.

On August 25, 1956 in the Osceola United Methodist Church Homer married Faye J. (McFall), who survives him. Additional survivors include his 2 children, Bryan (Nancy) Culp Sr. of Mishawaka and Julie Culp of Osceola: 3 grandchildren, Bryan Lee Culp Jr. of Lima Ohio, Ben Culp and Aimee Culp, both of Mishawaka, 1 great-grandchild, Zackary Culp of Lima Ohio and numerous nephews and nieces.

Homer graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1951 and then started his career at Dodge Manufacturing Corporation located in Mishawaka Indiana. In 1990 he retired after 38 years as the Manager of Factory Accounting. In addition to working at Dodge, Homer was the owner/operator of Homer L. Culp Public Accounting Services from 1957 to 1998. He earned his Public Accountant accreditation in 1970.

Homer worshiped at the Jamestown United Methodist Church for over 50 years where he served as the church treasurer for 18 years.

Homer was a master wood worker who finished their home with many custom made items. He was also a fan of the Indy 500 and attended many of these events over the years. He was also a fan of the Chicago Bears and of NASCAR.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Monday, July 18, 2016 at the Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home, 1109 Lincolnway West, Osceola, IN. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the 11:00 am funeral services on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 with Rev. Steve Loft officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Homer’s family wishes to thank the employees of Hubbard Hill for the care and love shown to him for the last 4 years.
