Another Marine has found his rest today, Wednesday, January 15, 2020. Horace Commodore Browning, Jr. was a Private First Class that served during the Korean War. He was born in Nebo, North Carolina on November 1, 1936. He was preceded in death by his parents: Horace Commodore, Sr. and Myrtle Effie and also his siblings: Bernice, Robert, Clyde, Bill, Betty, Lyle, Harold, Joe, John and Gene.
He attended Baptist Bible College where he met and married Joyce Young in 1965. From this union came his three children: Sharlyn (Mark Millsaps), Sara (Kent Barhydt) and Jeff (Penny); his 10 grandchildren: Shay Lynn, Jairrid (Lauren), Mindi, Mihranda, Michaela (Ben), Mackenzie (Jim), Brian, Kelly, Jack, and Skyler; his 8 great grandchildren: Tyler, Kayden, Braelynn, Khloee, Preslie, Lyncoln, Emmy and Quinn; and one great, great grandchild: Oliver
Horace retired from Republic Steel (aka: LTV Steel) after 33 years. This allowed him more time to enjoy some of his hobbies. He loved music whether he was playing and singing or just listening. He was an outdoorsman that loved to camp, fish, hunt and play golf. He was able to fix just about anything with skills to rival MacGyver. He will be missed by his family listed above and also his numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
