It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ian Scott Simper, age 44 of
Granger. Ian passed away unexpectedly at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center on
Monday morning, November 22, 2021. Ian was born August 20, 1977 in Mishawka,
Indiana to Robert Scott and Cindy (Rinehold) Simper.   He was a graduate of Penn High
School, class of 1996. On May 15, 1999, he married Christine Campbell at Queen of
Peace Catholic Church in Mishawaka.

Christine survives along with their children Mia Simper, Ethan Simper and Ella Simper,
all of Granger, his mother Cindy Simper of Osceola, his sister Tessa (Denny) Trigg of
Goshen and his brother, JD Simper of Osceola. Surviving as well are his in-laws Mark
and Jeannine Campbell of Osceola, his brother-in-law Mark (Angela) Campbell of
Goshen, his sister- in- law Meredith (Walter) Siematkowski and his brother-in-law Ben
(Beth) Campbell, both of Elkhart. Ian is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews and
numerous friends and extended family. His father, Robert “Scott” Simper preceded him
in death in January of 2019.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Tuesday with Rosary starting at 7:30,
November 30, 2021, at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola. There will also be one
hour of visitation at 9:30 prior to the 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial on
Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4508 Vistula Road,
Mishawaka, Indiana, 46544.

Ian’s devotion to friends and family were second to none. Ian took great pride in his
family and friends (which completely coincide with each other). You always knew if you
got a kiss from a Simper, you were family! Ian did not simply have acquaintances, Ian
had decade long friendships that will be cherished forever. Everyone who met Ian is a
better person for it.

Ian accepted Christ into his life with his baptism, first communion and confirmation at
Queen of Peace Church in Mishawaka, Indiana. Ian, fully, lived his life out as a devout
Catholic and lived his life as Christ intended.

Ian had a great love for sports. You could always find him sporting his Notre Dame,
Chicago White Sox, or Chicago Bears’ gear. Win or lose, many of great times were spent
cheering on his favorite teams (even though he had many Cubs and Colts friends). Ian
also had a huge passion for Notre Dame boxing (Bengal Bouts). This was a tradition Ian
started with his father Scott Simper over thirty years ago. Twenty-Five years ago, Ian
brought his friends to the Bengal Bouts and it has been a tradition, holding strong, ever
since.
One of Ian’s passions was smoking meat on his Traeger grill. Ian was always more than
willing to bring samples of his masterpieces to neighbors (never disappointed). Ian was
the most selfless person one could know. He always wanted to share his experiences
with his friends and family (these memories will always be remembered).

Music and presence of family and friends was very important to Ian. Ian had a great love
for country music; however, there was one song we could always count on hearing when

with Ian. The song is “Good Riddance” (Time of Your Life) by Green Day. There are
multiple meanings to this song. However, Ian always saw the good in this song. His
positive and upbeat take on life saw the best in life and wanted to make sure we always
had the “best time of our lives”.

Ian was employed with Indratech of Elkhart, Indiana and will be greatly missed by his
co-workers and friends at his company.

Most of all, Ian will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son and brother by his
family and an honest, hard-working, and reliable man to his many friends. His tender
heart toward others and compassion for those less fortunate will forever remain as an
example to his family of how others should be treated. Rest in Peace and we will love
you forever, Ian Scott Simper!
