Irene Patricia Stauffer, age 86 of Elkhart, was called home to Heaven on October 21, 2022. Irene was born July 29, 1936, in London, Ontario Canada to the late Charles and Louise Elbourn.
She is survived by her children Deborah A. (John) Haines of Elkhart, David C. (Sue) Stauffer of Granger and Teresa I. (Jason) Sailor of White Pigeon, Michigan. Surviving as well are her grandchildren: Kristine Qualls, Wesley New, Joseph (Carmen) Stauffer, Angie (Coddy) Stauffer-Elder, Stephanie (Kyle) Johnson, Jennifer (David) Puntney, Holly (Cory) Tope, and Jessica (Jason) Hamood, along with 15 great grandchildren and her dog “Gracie.” Irene was preceded in death by her former husband Charles Wesley Stauffer and her sister Ann Doughty.
Visitation will be held from 11am-1pm Friday, October 28, 2022, at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola, with funeral services to follow immediately after at 1pm. Irene’s son, Pastor David C. Stauffer, will officiate her service and she will be laid to rest in Olive Cemetery.
Irene was primarily a homemaker.
In her younger years, she enjoyed camping and boating. She also had a great love for all animals and cared for numerous pets through the years. Irene always loved gathering and celebrating all of the holidays with her family, and they always looked forward to her famous shortbread cookies and Yorkshire pudding.
Most of all, Irene loved the Lord. She was baptized at New Life Church in Osceola and attended Journey Church in Plymouth.
