Jacquelyn Sue Pletcher, age 74 of Mishawaka, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Jackie was born November 17, 1945 in South Bend, Indiana. She was a graduate of South Bend Central High School, class of 1963. On January 10, 1968, she married Herbert E. Pletcher Jr. in South Bend, Indiana. He preceded Jackie in death in 2009.
Surviving are her sons Herbert “Herbie” (Cheryl) Pletcher of Blue Island, Illinois and Tim (Ann) Pletcher of Elkhart, Indiana. Also surviving are six grandchildren; Brandon, Jacob, and Aiden Pletcher and Kyle, Katelyn and Kerynne Pletcher. Surviving as well is her brother Ron (Elva) Davis Jr. of South Bend. Jackie was preceded in death by her mother Polly Strobel and her brothers Jim and Bob Davis.
There will be a private graveside service for Jackie at a later date. Cruz Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with her arrangements.
Jackie was employed as a beautician from 1974-1990 at Rocco’s Style Shop in South Bend. After her husband Herb retired from the South Bend police department, they moved to Spring Hill, Florida until his passing in 2009. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling, playing games on her computer, and took up painting later in life.
Most of all, Jackie will be remembered for her caring soul. She was proud to be a beautician and volunteered her time on her days off giving haircuts to those who were unable to visit her salon at several local nursing homes. Because of her career, she knew no strangers and would often be found making new friends and carrying on conversations with them wherever she went.
