Jalen Keashaun Young, age 24, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 14, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Jalen was born September 21, 1999, in Elkhart, Indiana. A graduate of Elkhart Memorial High School, Jalen excelled in sports, particularly football, basketball, and baseball. He was employed for over 6 years with Crystal Clear Pools of Osceola where his co-workers admired his work ethic and willingness to help in any possible way.
He is survived by his parents, Stephanie Lane of Elkhart and William (Candice) Young of Snellville, Georgia, along with his siblings, Nevaeh Lane of Elkhart and Madison Williams of Elkhart, Makayla Williams and Drevonte Postell, both of Florida, and Robyn and Reginald Priah, both of Cleveland, Ohio. Surviving as well are his stepmother and stepfather, Mondarian and Trisha Williams of Florida, his grandmother Donna Shepherd, his great-Grandmother Nancy Williams, his dear friend, Karla Diaz several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, and his faithful dog, “Rowdy” who he loved taking for walks. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers; Billy Lane, Earl Giles and William Young Sr., his grandmother Gerdine Bester, his great grandfather Lawrence Williams and his aunts Stacie Lane and Lori Legg.
Visitation will be held 3 hours prior to the 7:00 pm funeral service on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Michiana Community Church, 51637 Ash Rd, Granger, IN 46530, with Pastor Denver Burns officiating. Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Osceola has been entrusted with his care.
Jalen’s athleticism was complemented by his dedication to martial arts, as he studied Taekwon Do. Jalen also enjoyed playing pool and watching boxing on TV. Jalen's passion for sports, especially Alabama football, was a significant part of his life. He shared a special bond with his father, spending countless hours playing video games, and engaging in heart-to-heart conversations daily about life and their favorite sports.
He will be remembered for his infectious smile and eyes that could light up a room, earning him the nickname "Hollywood" from friends and family. His polite and fun-loving nature made him the life of the party, and his impeccable sense of style always left a lasting impression. He was a vibrant and warm-hearted young man whose presence brought joy to all those around him. With an incredible sense of humor, maturity beyond his years, and a natural protective instinct, Jalen was the kind of person who could make anyone feel at ease. He was able to engage in discussions on a wide range of topics and had the remarkable ability to connect with anyone about anything.
Jalen's aspirations to become an actor reflected his undeniable talent and good looks. Recently signing with a talent agency, he was on the brink of showcasing his abilities to the World. His ambition and determination were evident in everything he pursued, and those who knew him best believed in the limitless potential that he possessed.
Though his life on Earth was short, Jalen leaves behind a void that cannot be filled, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
