Jason L. Barnes

Jason L. Barnes, age 43 of Osceola passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 11, 2016. Jason was born July 12, 1973 in Elkhart, Indiana.

Surviving are his parents Jim and Nancy Barnes and his brother Jeff Barnes, all of Elkhart. Also surviving is his grandmother, Carol Rufer of Mishawaka, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

There will be visitation from 4-7 pm Monday, October 17, 2016 at Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home in Osceola, with funeral services to follow at 7:00 pm. A private burial will take place at Olive Cemetery on Tuesday, October 18, 2016.

Jason was employed by the US Postal Service for over 2o years as a mail carrier. He had also been employed part time at Hardware Plus in Osceola for several years.

In his spare time, Jason was an avid fisherman and recently had begun to play golf again. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends, who described him as kind and fun-loving with a heart of gold. Jason was also a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan, and it was rare to see him without a Packers hat, both in the winter and summer.

Jason also loved animals. On his mail route, he carried a bag of treats for the dogs he would encounter and made many furry friends along the way, as he would give them a biscuit at the mailbox.

Because of his love for animals, the Barnes family requests that donations be made in lieu of flowers to Pet Refuge, 4626 S. Burnette Dr. South Bend, IN 46614.
