Jimmy Gerald Jackson, age 72 of Mishawaka, passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, August 2, 2019 at The Center for Hospice in South Bend. Jimmy was born March 19, 1947 in Fairfield, Alabama to the late Jimmy P. and Ora O. (Donaldson) Jackson. Jimmy attended Penn High School before enlisting in the US Army. On July 9, 1966, he married Toni Bruner in Elkhart, Indiana, and they were stationed in Germany during Jimmy’s service prior to his honorable discharge in 1969.
Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Toni Jackson of Mishawaka and their three sons Michael Jackson and Brian (Amy) Jackson, both of South Bend and Mark (Rebecca) Jackson of Mishawaka. Also surviving are his grandchildren Markus, Jakob, Kyle, Eli and Caden. Jimmy is survived as well by his brother Gary (Nila) Jackson of Osceola.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Larry Jackson.
Services for Jimmy will be held privately. Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Osceola has been entrusted with his care.
Jimmy was employed for 27 years as a delivery driver for Hostess Snack Cakes, and later for 13 years with Keystone RV in Elkhart. He will be remembered by his friends, family, and co-workers as a hard worker and provider for his family. In his 27 years at Hostess, he missed one half of a day with an injury and went right back to work the very same day.
Jimmy was also a beloved husband, father and grandfather to his family. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with his family. He also loved to play cards, and in his spare time he was a member of the Osceola Masonic Lodge and the BK Club in Mishawaka.
