Joann J. (Counter) Lundberg

Joann Jean Lundberg, age 83 of Elkhart, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023, in Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  Joann was born January 6, 1940, in Kalamazoo, Michigan to the late John and Aurlie (LaPorte) Counter.  On March 21, 1968, she married DeVon Lundberg in Osceola, Indiana.  He preceded her in death in March of 1997 after celebrating 29 years of marriage.

Surviving are her children Louie (Chris) Larson of Elkahrt, and Raymond (Lynn) Larson of Osceola. Also surviving are her siblings Johnny, Vanetta, and Pete, as well as her grandchildren Jeremy Fireline, Mitchell (Jennifer) Larson, Melissa (Carlos) Larson and Jeremy (Mandy) Larson.  She is also survived by 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  Preceding her in death were her siblings Dorothy, Oakley “Tucky” and an infant sibling nicknamed “Peanut.”

Visitation will take place 2 hours prior to the 1:00 pm funeral service on Friday, August 18, 2023, at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola.  Joann will be laid to rest following the service in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Joann was a homemaker and in her spare time enjoyed embroidering numerous items and raising canaries.  She also spent many hours assisting her husband with his juice delivery service route throughout the Michiana area.

Most of all, Joann loved being a mom and grandma to her family.  Her affection for her sons and grandchildren will be greatly missed, as well as her ability to use her wonderful sense of humor to keep others laughing.
