Osceola

Johanna Frieda Quinn, age 82 of Osceola, passed away at her residence on Friday, August 5,2022.  Johanna was born September 29, 1939, in Bad Rappenau, Germany to the late Albert Fredinand and Erika (Bechtold) Toberer.  On February 12, 1969, she married Edwin H. Quinn in Jefferson County, Alabama.  The Quinns celebrated 50 years of marriage before Eddie’s passing in August of 2019.

Surviving are her children John (Elizabeth) Reasonover of South Bend, Indiana, Christine (Mark Yaw) Reasonover of Portland, Oregon, Albert (Carmen) Reasonover of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Johanna E. (Joey Lai) Quinn of Osceola, Indiana.   Surviving as well are her siblings Albert (Marga) Toberer, Heidi (Joachim) Volmer and Baldur (Helga) Toberer. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Larry (Brandi) Chipps, Amanda Reasonover (Michael) Wade, Kristen Reasonover, Brandon (Amanda) Reasonover, Christopher Reasonover, Courtney (Brian) Johnson, her great-grandchildren, Maddox Teague and Andre Gonzalez, Jace and Caybri Chipps, Ava Clickbuich, Jayda and Benjamin Johnson, her nephews Gilbert, Frank and Michael and her niece Claudia.  Her brother Bertram Toberer and grandsons Troy and Trevor Reasonover preceded her in death.

Johanna was born in Germany and baptized into the Lutheran faith. Her German roots were strong, and she learned to yodel like no other.  At the age of 18, Johanna won a yodeling contest in Germany.  Her lifelong love for music and entertainment carried throughout her lifetime as she delighted in attending shows, singing and dancing around the house. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family playing cards, especially “500” Rummy, all night even though the rest of the family was ready for bed. Johanna also enjoyed playing Bingo and had a talent for arts and crafts.  She often made candles, and macrame. She also loved staying physically fit, doing aerobics classes and keeping active throughout the years and was fond of animals, especially her dogs.

Not only will she be remembered as loving wife, mother and friend to all, but she will be remembered fondly by her family as a great cook.  Chili, spaghetti, Cucumber salads and tomato salads were her specialty, and those dishes will be missed at future family gatherings.

Cremation has taken place and Johanna will be laid to rest beside the love of her life, Edwin Quinn at Marion National Cemetery at a later date.   Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Osceola has been entrusted with her care.
