John’s greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a hard worker, spending many years driving a semi-truck before retiring at the age of 61. John and his wife, Carol, often worked together on the road, with Carol keeping the truck’s logs while John drove. Sometimes, their sons and grandchildren would join them on trips across the country, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
John had a special tradition of taking each grandchild on a one-on-one trip when they turned 10, something they always looked forward to. He was also passionate about caring for the lawn at Cedar Road Missionary Church, where he was a faithful member. His love for his dog, Guido, and his devotion to Notre Dame football were well known. In his younger years, John and his family enjoyed camping together.
Though John could be ornery at times, he had a heart of gold and was always ready to help anyone in need. In his memory, donations may be given to Cedar Road Missionary Church.
