Karen Sue Weiss, age 66 of Osceola, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on the morning of July 16, 2020 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Karen was born August 3, 1953 in Bremen, Indiana to the late Russell and Louise Schutz.  Karen graduated from LaVille High School in 1971. Later that same year, she married Peter Weiss on August 28, 1971 after his time serving his country during the Vietnam War.

Surviving is her husband of 48 years, Pete Weiss of Osceola, and their children Anthony Peter (Lesley) Weiss of Goshen, Kristi Louise (Dee) Goodson of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Samantha (Adam) Onderdonk of Osceola.  Surviving as well are her beloved grandchildren Anthony James Weiss, Nicholas Jordyn Weiss, & Faith Elizabeth Weiss, Sadie Marie (Jared) Gulley & Casey Joe White, and Ellie Angeline Onderdonk & Everett James Peter Onderdonk. Also surviving are her siblings Marilyn (Ross) Cramer of Plymouth and Ellen (Dick) Hershberger of Bremen.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her infant son Peter James Weiss.

A celebration of Karen’s life will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Osceola Grace Church, 58343 South Apple Road, Osceola, Indiana with cookies and refreshments to follow. **For the health and safety of our community, the Weiss family encourages those attending to wear a mask if medically able. ** Karen's celebration of life will also be broadcast in the parking lot of Osceola Grace Church on 106.7 FM for those who may wish to attend curbside. Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Osceola is assisting with arrangements.

Karen was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who dedicated her life not only to the Lord, but to her family as well.  A homemaker by trade, she enjoyed fishing with her friends and family, and spending time at the beach. She was also actively involved in her grandchildren’s lives and loved baking each of them their own batch of “grandma’s cookies.”

Karen served faithfully as a member of Osceola Grace Church for many years and volunteered her time as part of the Church’s custodial and lawn care staff.  She told her family often that cutting the grass was where she spent many hours in prayer.  Along side of her time spent working at the Church, Karen also led a Women’s biblically based counseling group.

In her memory, donations may be made in her name to Riley’s Hospital for Children at www.rileychildrens.org.   To leave an online condolence for the Weiss family, light a virtual candle in her memory, or share a story of her life, please follow the links provided on the “Tribute Wall” tab above.
