Larry Gene Enders

July 10, 1949 — June 16, 2023

Elkhart

Larry G. Enders, age 73, passed away at his home in Elkhart unexpectedly on Friday, June 16, 2023.  Larry was born July 10, 1949, in Plymouth, Indiana.  He was a graduate of South Bend Adams High School.  Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served honorably during the Vietnam War. Throughout his tour of duty, Larry exchanged many letters with DeLina Kurtz, whom he would later marry in St. Matthews Cathedral in South Bend on June 9, 1972.  Their marriage was marked by unconditional love, support, and shared adventures that would shape their lives together. Through the years, they embarked on numerous adventures together, sharing memorable travels and experiences.

Surviving is his wife of 51 years, DeLina Enders of Elkhart and their sons Bret Enders of Denver, Colorado and Blake (Lisa Richter) Enders of Las Vegas, Nevada, along with his faithful companion Bailey, his beloved dog.  He was preceded in death by his father Gene William Enders and his mother Wilma Joy (Lowman) Banicki, as well as his sister Nancy Kujowski.

Larry will be laid to rest in a private ceremony in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens where his service to his country will be honored by the VFW Post 360.  Cruz Family Funeral Home of Osceola has been entrusted with his care.

He was employed as an electrician for many years and retired from Koontz Wagner in 2012.  In his spare time, Larry was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and Notre Dame football teams. Golf was another sport that brought him great pleasure, as he enjoyed perfecting his swing and spending time on the course. He also found peace and tranquility in his beautifully landscaped yard where he dedicated time and effort to create a place where he could sit and watch wildlife from his back porch.

Larry's love for his country extended beyond his military service. As a longtime member of VFW Post 360, he supported his fellow veterans and enjoyed spending time at the post shooting pool.

Most of all, family was the cornerstone of Larry's life, and he cherished the moments spent with his loved ones. He was a loving and devoted husband and father, always ensuring that his family felt supported, loved, and cared for. Larry's role as a coach for his son's baseball teams embodied his commitment to hard work and dedication that he instilled in his sons at a young age.
