Leeroy Laddie Mills, 61 of South Bend died unexpectedly on January 1, 2022 in his home. He was born February 15, 1960 in Greensboro, North Carolina and raised by his mother, Patricia Mills. Leeroy spent many years working for Bremen Hospital and the Michiana Community Hospital, and most recently for the South Bend Tribune along with other self-contracting work.
Leeroy's pride and joy, of course, was his family. He worked very hard to give them the best life he could and there was nothing he wouldn't do for them. He loved time spent alongside his kids - eating good food, enjoying a great beer, cheering on the Buckeyes, and sharing stories or cracking jokes! Leeroy never missed a chance to tease and pick on his 9 grandkids and 4 great grandkids - he loved being their Papaw (King of the Freaks, as he put it).
Leeroy is survived by his wife, Lisa Bealer Mills; mother, Patricia Mills; his sister, Debra Bell; his children, Katrina (Jason) Lopez, Joshua (Heather) Mills, Andrea (Jordan) Saiz, Cassie Mills, and Austin (Jessica) Mills; his step-son, James Steuer; his grandkids, Christian, Donte, Keyanna, Jaiden, Alexis, Nataly, Serenity, Grace, and Ivy; his great grandkids, Hatter, Jagger, Caster, and Jazzlyn. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mackenzie Campbell-Mills.
A celebration of life will be held 4-6:30 pm Friday, January 7, 2022, at St Mark Missionary Church, 55240 Bittersweet Rd., Mishawaka with a short memorial service beginning at 5pm. Friends are welcome to visit both before and after the service. Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Osceola is assisting with the arrangements.
