Leon E. Bee

October 11, 1937 — May 20, 2023

Elkhart

Leon E. Bee, age 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 7:11 pm Saturday, May 20, 2023, while surrounded by his family while under Hospice care from his home in Elkhart.  Leon was born October 11, 1937, in Clarksville, Tennessee. On June 7, 1957, he married the former miss Phyllis Holland.

Phyllis survives, along with their children Katrina (Dr. Joseph) Stewart of Elkhart, DaJuana (Brent) Moore of Danville, Indiana, and Leon D. (Grace) Bee of Elkhart.  Surviving as well are five grandchildren: Chris (Tanecia) Bee, Logan Moore, Jacob Moore, Jailynn Bee, and Kaleb Bee, and three great grandchildren, Ashtyn, Taryn and Kenydi Bee.  He is survived as well by his sister Ruth (Dr. Charles) Mays of Nashville, Tennessee and his sister-in-law Karen Bee of Minnesota.  He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Vera (Wallace) Bee and his brother Austin Bee.

A celebration of Leon’s life will be held at a later time.  Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Osceola has been entrusted with his care.

Leon will be remembered as a hardworking husband and father who was a pillar of strength and dedication to both his profession and his family. After arriving in Elkhart in 1960, he worked tirelessly to provide for his family and was employed by Bayer (Miles Laboratories) for 41 years and part time with Elkhart Hinge for 16 years.

Most of all, Leon loved the Lord and was a soldier of the gospel.  He was bold in his faith and sought to share the Good News with others whenever the opportunity presented itself.  He and his wife Phyllis were faithful members of the Church of God of Prophecy in Mishawaka, where he taught Sunday School and assisted with the Church’s bus ministry and later they attended Calvary Assembly of God
