Linda Gail (Willoughby) Chidister

Linda Gail Chidister, 78, of Goshen passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023, with her family by her side.

She was born September 9, 1945, in Savannah, TN to the late Carmack and Fay (Wolfe) Willoughby and moved to the area during her school years. After graduating from Mishawaka High School, she married Greg Chidister on February 19, 1977, in Elkhart.

He survives along with three children, Christine (Tim) Cole of Vandalia, MI, Michael Chidister of Indianapolis, and Michelle (Darin) Miller of Elkhart; 5 grandchildren, Sarah Ernsberger of Vandalia, MI, Mason Cole of Portland, OR, Derek Miller and Rachel (Evan) Gill, both of Elkhart, and Olivia Bailey of Ft. Wayne; and 3 great-grandchildren, Sadie Gill, Bennette and Riggs Miller. She was preceded in death by two sisters, a toddler, Jeanette Willoughby, and Mackie Wigner.

Linda worked for many years as a production and inventory controller for Gunite Corporation in Elkhart, before retiring in 1994. Outside of her career, Linda enjoyed designing and tending to her flowers and spending time with family, which was her biggest joy. Linda loved spoiling her family and attending all the events she was able to with her grandchildren.

A time to celebrate a beautiful life is scheduled for Friday, December 8, 2023, at Cruz Family Funeral Home from 10-11 with a memorial service beginning at 11 am. Pastor Jerry Solis officiating. A private family graveside service will follow immediately after.

In lieu of flowers and to honor Linda’s life, memorial contributions may be sent to the Prison Fellowship Angel Tree.
