September 6, 1957 — July 18, 2023

South Bend

Lisa Joanne Barden, age 65 of South Bend, passed away at Wellbrooke of South Bend on Tuesday, July 18, 2023.  Lisa was born September 6, 1957, in Los Angeles, California to the late Michael and Joan (Harris) Clyne. She was the first in her family to be born in the United States and spent the first 30 years of her life in California before moving to South Bend.  She served her country with great pride in the US Army from 1986-1989 before her honorable discharge.  Lisa graduated valedictorian from Cal State Fullerton and later graduated Cum Laude from the University of Notre Dame where she received her MBA.  She was employed for many years as a legal clerk, was an adjunct professor at Saint Mary’s College, and later became a manager for Walmart prior to her retirement. On June 18, 1999, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Denson.

She is survived by her husband Kenny Denson of South Bend, her daughter Astra (Rich) Palicki of Osceola, her son Miles (Amanda) Barden of Granger, her grandchildren Kaitlyn, John, Cole and Sam, and her siblings Patsy Olsen of Newport Beach, California, and Ricky (Karen) Clyne of Windsor Heights, West Virginia.

A private service will be held at a later time.  Cruz Family Funeral Home of Osceola has been entrusted with her care.

Outside of work Lisa enjoyed music, comedy, the arts, antiques, and French cooking.  She loved animals and collecting taxidermy and Halloween was her favorite holiday. Most of the year, her home was decorated like it was October, much to the amusement of her husband and family. In her younger years, she was an avid tennis player and enjoyed watching Wimbledon every year.
