Mary (Abel) Ridenour

Mary Ridenour, 75, of Mishawaka entered heavenly rest on Monday, February 19, 2024, at the Raclin House surrounded by her family. She was born Sept. 12, 1948, in Michigan City, IN to the late Edward and Helen (Rozycki) Abel. She married Glen “Sonny” Ridenour on June 12, 1982, after 41 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on December 8, 2023.

Their sons, Matthew (Jessica) Ridenour of South Bend, and Michael Ridenour of Michigan City, IN still survive along with Mary’s siblings, Cindy Gardini, Tom Abel, and Bruce (Sandy) Abel and her beloved “4-legged children” Tipsy Rose and Apollo.

Mary gave 35 years of service as a press operator at Nylon Craft in Mishawaka and was highly regarded for her professionalism and expertise. Outside of work, Mary had a passion crocheting, latch hooking, and cross-stitching, creating beautiful pieces that will be cherished by her family and friends. Mary also had a love for reading and solving word searches, often immersing herself in books and puzzles in her spare time. Mary had a deep appreciation for nature and animals, particularly horses and wolves, to the point of adopting a wolf, Sarah. Mary will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to her passions. She leaves behind a legacy of hard work, creativity, and love that will continue to inspire those who knew her.

A time to celebrate her life is scheduled for Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 5-7 pm, with a service beginning at 7 at Cruz Family Funeral Home, Osceola. Cremation will take place following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the St. Jospeh County Humane Society.
