Mary Lee (Shalley) Walters

Mary Lee Walters, age 86 of Gulf Breeze, Florida, formerly of Osceola, Indiana, passed away at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Florida on Monday, September 20, 2021.  Mary was born July 23, 1935, in Mishawaka, Indiana to the late Hershel and Marion (Miller) Shalley.  On October 18, 1958, she married James M. Gramenz who preceded her in death on May 26, 1973.  On August 14, 1982, she married George Walters in Jimtown, Indiana and he preceded her in 2003.  In 2011, Mary decided to follow her son to Gulf Breeze, Florida where she enjoyed the warm weather and relaxed pace of life.

She is survived by her children Judith Ann Nicholson of Gulf Breeze, Florida, Terry J. (Tammy) Gramenz of Hartford, Michigan and Kenneth D. (Tina) Gramenz of Gulf Breeze, Florida.  Surviving as well is her sister Joy Anderson of Pensacola, Florida, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her son James Gramenz and her siblings Thomas Shalley, Barbara Evans, Sue Hendrickson and Mona Bush.

Mary will be laid to rest by her son James in Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka. Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting with the arrangements.

Mary was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was especially fond of her grandchildren.  She was an avid reader and her hobbies included researching her family’s genealogy and tracing their family tree, sharing her artistic talents for watercolor painting and drawing with her family and friends, and spoiling her miniature dachshunds rotten.
