Michael Alan Brown, age 73, passed away surrounded by his family at his home in Mishawaka on January 29, 2022. Michael was born October 31, 1948, in Frankfort, Michigan to the late Ernest and Maxine (Strasser) Brown. Mike attended Clay High School.When the call of his country came, Mike answered. He served honorably in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War where he was wounded in combat and received a Purple Heart. On February 1, 1969, he married the former Ms. Beverly Claeys in Granger, Indiana.
Beverly survives, along with their five children: Matthew Brown and his wife Megan of Mishawaka, Todd Brown and his wife Candace, Jacob Brown and his wife Kelly, both of Osceola, Shauna Brown of South Bend, and Shayla Brown of Mishawaka, his grandchildren Madison Whitlow and her husband Andrew, Mason Brown and his wife Kelsey, Mariyah Brown, Maverick Brown, Brayden Plummer, Zachary Plummer, Samantha Rassi and her husband Seth, Lacy Olsen and her husband Brody, Noah Brown, Zion Brown, Brody Brown, Raylin Brown, Yehezquel DeVault and Hadassah DeVault, and his great-grandchildren Hudson, Hollyn, Harrison, Selah, Harper, Finley, Bowen and Briggs. Michael is also survived by his siblings Greg Brown and his wife Cathy, Diana Shea and her husband Jim, Kevin Brown, Stanley Brown, Theresa Wood, Karen Blackford and her husband Scott, and Kathy Williams and her husband Mitch. His brother, Gene Brown preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the 11:00 am funeral service on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at New Life Church 11593 McKinley Highway, Osceola, Indiana 46561. Interment and Military Honors will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
Michael was self-employed as an entrepreneur and enjoyed spending time on the water fishing, cooking meals for his family, enjoying time with them around the dining room table, and spending time with his boys riding around town.
Always one to put the need of others before his own, Michael’s kind and compassionate spirit and love for the Lord was reflected to others through his generosity to those in need. He and his wife served as marriage counselors for couples in need of healing through “Becoming One Ministries” and he served on several Missions trips to Africa.
